That vision would become a reality as early as 2027 under the Lehigh Valley Green Transportation Infrastructure Project.
The LVPC April 1 applied for a $115 million grant through the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fund the project as part of the EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program. The plan calls for developing green infrastructure in 522 acres of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation rights-of-way at 19 sites along some of the busiest Lehigh Valley roadways, including Routes 22, 33 and 378. Below is a copy of the grant application, renderings and appendices, as well as ways to support the region’s grant applications.
Program grants are expected to be announced in July 2024.
