Local Technical Assistance Program

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Local Technical Assistance Program (PennDOT LTAP) is one of 58 LTAP centers across the nation (one in each state, Puerto Rico and six regional centers serving American Indian tribal governments). These centers are dedicated to transferring transportation technology through training, technical assistance and other customer services to municipal elected officials and their staff. LTAP has provided technology transfer services to Pennsylvania's 2,600 municipal governments since 1983.

The PennDOT LTAP program is designed to help Pennsylvania's municipalities, which maintain over 68,000 miles of roadways, make the best use of their roadway maintenance dollars. LTAP provides free technical information and proven technologies dealing with roadway maintenance and safety methods to meet the growing demands on municipal governments.

The LVPC partnered with PennDOT to provide free LTAP training opportunities to the Region's municipalities, creating more awareness of the value of LTAP training and identifying how LTAP can benefit local transportation programs. LTAP's availability and convenience make it a logical extension of the services the LVPC typically provides to the Region.
