The Lehigh Valley Transportation Study (LVTS) is in the process of updating the Lehigh Valley Long Range Transportation Plan for 2015-2040 (MOVE LV). This update occurs every four years. This plan is federally mandated and helps guide the transportation decision-making process through policy and investment decisions.
There are three main goals that the plan achieves:
1. To document the current operational status of the transportation network
2. To identify travel network deficiencies
3. To identify projects to mitigate those deficiencies
LVTS in early 2015, heard from 25 project sponsors made up of municipalities, organizations, companies, and Lehigh and Northampton Counties. These sponsors presented transportation infrastructure needs in their respective communities totaling approximately $420 million in requests.
If you have a transportation project need, process (update to project list once every 4 years):
Step 1: Pitch project to the LVTS Committee
Step 2: LVTS deliberates and confirms goals and policies will be met
Step 3: Become listed in MOVE LV
Proposed projects will be evaluated by LVTS for inclusion into the LRTP based upon compliance with:
